Production Assistant

When one of my favorite hiking podcasts was looking for some help behind the scenes I couldn’t pass up the opportunity to marry my two passions — advertising and backpacking. My work for Backpacker Radio spans the gamut. I do everything from show notes (which can be seen here) to social media management (@backpackerradio on Instagram, @backpackerpod on Twitter, @backpackerradio on Tik Tok, and @backpackerraddio on Facebook).

Results

Since joining the Backpacker Radio team last February I’ve helped them; produce 65 episodes (and counting), grow a social following across Twitter, Instagram and Facebook to 53,000+, launch and grow a Tik Tok following, grow downloads per episode to 21,700+, reach 2,000,000 total downloads, reach 1,000+ reviews on apple podcasts and generate thousands of dollars in ad revenue.

EPISODE 100 PROMO

For the podcasts’s 100th episode, the hosts invited back some of the show’s most popular guests and reached out to sponsors to thank fans with a giveaway. This is the episode art and giveaway graphics I created to post on social as promo.

SOCIAL SEGMENTS

I incorporate various segments from the show as part of the social strategy to drive engagement. This gives listeners a chance to weigh in on things they hear the hosts discuss week over week, like the Triple Crown segment which has proven to be wildly successful.

TITLE SPONSORS

One of my many responsibilities on the social channels is creating and posting content for the show’s sponsors.

FUNDRAISERS

Backpacker Radio tries to give back to the outdoor community whenever possible. As part of the New Year’s Eve episode, we raised $1,466 for the Partnership for the National Trails System.

MERCH

I design and promote all of Backpacker Radio’s merchandise — which also donates proceeds from certain designs to various outdoor causes. This particular design plays on BPR’s long-term love for PBR. The entire store can be viewed here.
